SCN Kenya: We build the Infrastructure for Collaboration
The System Changer Network Kenya (SCN) was founded in 2021 by six Kenyan NGOs that shared a common belief: sustainable development happens faster and lasts longer when local organizations, communities, businesses, and institutions work together.
Today, SCN is a growing platform that enables collaboration across sectors, organizations, and regions. Rather than creating new structures, we strengthen and align existing ones, helping resources, knowledge, and opportunities flow more effectively to the communities that need them most.
Rooted in Communities: SCN’s strength comes from its local presence. Through our network of SCN Centers and partner organizations across Central, Western, and Coastal Kenya, we work directly with farmers, fishers, youth, women, young mothers, entrepreneurs, schools, faith groups, and other community-based organizations. Being embedded in communities allows us to identify priorities early, test new approaches in real-life settings, and scale solutions that are relevant, practical, and locally owned.
Today, the SCN network directly reaches more than 70,000 people and indirectly impacts approximately 900,000 people annually through partner organizations, outreach activities, and knowledge-sharing networks.
A Network of Networks: SCN operates as a network of networks – on the community level, on the stakeholder level and in collaboration with other NGOs and CBOs. Shared standards, structured exchange, and joint learning help organizations work together more effectively while reducing duplication and coordination challenges. As successful approaches emerge, they are documented, adapted, and shared across communities and regions, allowing solutions to spread faster and further.

Strengthening Local Leadership: Strong communities require strong local institutions. SCN invests in the capacity of NGOs, community organizations, and social enterprises through peer learning, practical training, digital tools, AI-supported planning and reporting, and access to national and international expertise.
Our goal is to help local leaders become increasingly capable of attracting investment, managing partnerships, and sustaining impact beyond individual projects.
